This is just a small write-up on my personal experience for you guys on the recent switch to the saltless water softener system. We got the system put in just about a month ago so at this point I cant really speak to longevity. What I can give you is some information on installation costs.
Im confident after a month that the install process has been done correctly and the system is functioning (we tested the water.) Since I dont expect any adjustments will be needed I can give you guys the final tally for our install.
Alighty, we went through a plumber who weve worked with before, and frankly Im not putting his name up here cause I already cant get any time from him when I need it find your own dang plumber!:P
I only bring that up because we probably paid a bit more for the parts by not buying them directly but we also made sure the system we got was one our plumber was familiar with and agreed (at least on some level) was worthwhile. He also helped us pick out the size of the system we need, and it ended up being smaller than I thought so keep in mind that expert advise can really save you money in the end.
The system alone cost 900 dollars, plus an adapter kit for another 75. Not too bad. Now we were quoted 1,200 by our man originally so I was a little worried at this point. Dont get me wrong, I figured itd end up at least being 1,500 by the end of it but we were already over a grand and he hadnt even removed the old system yet
Luckily taking the old system out turned out to be simple, I guess you can just flip a bypass switch (so now the old softener is disconnected) and then saw the dang thing off. Until you put a new conditioner in there youll just be using the hard, untreated water but its better than having the water shut off!
