How to Decorate With Yellow Accents

Decorating with yellow accents can brighten up a room. Choosing which rooms will look best with yellows depends on the rest of the room's decor. Yellow custom curtains can be used seasonally or year-round. There are several fashionable ways to use yellow custom window treatments to coordinate with other furnishings.

Sunroom
The main purpose of a sunroom is to celebrate the outdoors without inviting the heat, cold, wind and rain into the room. Sunrooms are usually made mostly of windows as walls, although there are some portions of the room that may connect to others. Bay windows, jalousie windows and French or patio doors may feature glass or energy efficient materials to help keep the sun's radiant heat energy out of the room. Sunrooms are popular places for wicker or cast iron furniture. As a result, yellow window treatments are appropriate when needed. Try them in quality custom Roman shades or with valances, swags and jabots.

Living Spaces
One way that floral prints in home furnishings works is to use a color in the pattern's palette throughout the room. This is especially popular for the living room. Floral upholstery contains bold or intricate prints that contain a variety of colors. Matching the sofa, chairs, ottoman and cushions is a designer's favorite. Yellow accents are easy to coordinate in pinch pleated drapes and other types of made to order curtains without overwhelming the room in floral prints. This can also give a seasonal twist to the room, accenting the brightness of the spring and summer weather. Coordinating earth tones in medium shades can be used in fall and winter.

Kitchen
One trend in kitchen fabrics is any type of plaid. When tablecloths, seat cushions, dish towels and other decor are heavy on prints and designs, using solid colors for window treatments is one way to avoid overwhelming the room. Lighter colors make spaces bigger and brighten up a kitchen quite easily. This is notable for a small kitchen without a lot of space that features blond shades of wood or painted cabinets. Stark contrasts, however, should be avoided.

Bedroom
In rooms that still have carpeting, finding appropriate coordinating fabrics and window treatments can be challenging. Carpets with designs and prints often have colors that coordinate well with yellow, such as white, green, tan and blue. Hardwood floors also work well with yellow accents, such as and window treatments. Using yellow curtains with tiebacks makes the bedroom brighter and more vibrant.
