- 1). Decorate the reception area with yellow, red, or orange streamers, and opt for flowers and cake frosting in these colors. The colors emphasize the autumn season and the Halloween holiday.
- 2). Ask bridesmaids to wear slim-fitting dresses in black, orange, red or yellow. These shades will enhance the Halloween aesthetic and will not evoke thoughts of spring like many traditional weddings do.
- 3). Dress flower girls and ring bearers in costumes. The wedding guests will find miniature witches, vampires or pumpkins adorable. Children can spread rose petals from trick-or-treat buckets shaped like jack-o-lanterns.
- 4). Decorate the walkway that leads to the wedding or reception venue with jack-o-lanterns. Instead of typical designs, carve the pumpkins with wedding-themed images such as rings, a dove or clasped hands.
- 5). Serve food such as winter squash, pumpkin pie, yam french fries and soup at the reception to commemorate the season. Place a basket of Halloween candy, including candy corn and miniature chocolate bars, on every table. Provide guests with hot chocolate and other seasonal refreshments.
- 6). Spread fake autumn leaves on the floor and tables at the reception venue to give the room an autumn aesthetic. Drape dark tapestries on the walls and set electric candles in the windowsills.
- 7). Wear a black, red or orange wedding gown to circumvent tradition and avoid looking overly spring-like. You could also opt for a slim-fitting white wedding dress with a black veil, in keeping with the Halloween theme.
- 8). Play Halloween-themed music while guests socialize at the reception, featuring classic songs such as “Monster Mash” and “Thriller.”
