You have written a great post on your blog.
How do you now drive traffic to it? In this article I am going to show you five things you can to help this process along.
Please note I said process, because that is what it is.
Like any process it takes time but once it is started will gain momentum fairly quickly.
Inform your readers of new posts The first thing to do is to tell your existing subscribers that you have a new post.
Remember that they opted into your list for a reason and the most likely reason is that they enjoyed your previous content.
So log into your autoresponder and send out a broadcast telling them that there is more great information at your blog.
You could add a snippet or an overview in the broadcast e-mail as a teaser.
Share It Using Social Media I have my Facebook and Twitter accounts linked to my autoresponder so that when I send out my broadcast e-mail to my subscribers it gets posted on Facebook and Twitter as well.
Consider for a moment what these sites are all about.
There are social networking sites where your followers want to know all about what you are doing.
So be social and tell them.
They just might come for a visit.
Use Social Media Tools On Your Blog On your blog I recommend that you install social media plug-ins that allow your readers to like and share your posts.
For example I use a free plug-in called AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget but there are many others you could use.
If you write a great post and give your readers the opportunity to share it around social networking sites there is no reason why your post could not go viral and what blogger would not want that to happen? Ask Your Readers To Like And Share In fact I would go one step further and suggest that you ask your readers to like, share and comment.
If you ask you just might receive.
Comments are great on a blog because they allow your community of readers to use your site almost as a social networking site in its own right.
They belong and so they interact without too much effort on your part.
Reply to comments When a reader does make a comment I strongly recommend that you always reply.
It makes them feel that they belong and what they have contributed is important and valued.
By replying the reader knows that you are a real person and as a result you are building trust with them.
As a matter of fact I go one step further and also send an e-mail thanking them for their comment.
My e-mail is simply a standard reply that I cut and paste but is a very personal response and works wonders for building a relationship with the reader and you can almost guarantee that they will be back.
If you apply these five ideas I am sure that you will see your readership and therefore your subscribers increase consistently over time.
Much of this process can be automated and so the effort required from you is quite minimal but the results could be truly staggering.
As I said at the beginning this is a process and may be slow to gain momentum so don't give up too soon.
