But if we don't pay attention to what is in the food we are eating, this may not be successful.
There are hidden fats in a lot of unsuspecting food items.
Researchers have been pushing fish as a healthy meal for some time now.
The reason for that is fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and has many health benefits.
Although sushi seems to be a healthy selection, it really depends in what it contains and the type.
Some sushi rolls actually contain unhealthy fats.
Fish that is battered or fried are another unhealthy choice when maintain a healthy diet.
If you stick with the basic sushi rolls or sashimi, you will have made a better decision.
Certain snacks like dried fruit have added sugar and are less healthy than if you were to eat fresh fruit.
Adding sugar to dried fruits also adds calories.
Granola is known to be a good source of oats and it curbs your appetite, but it also contains added sugar when it is prepackaged.
Once again, added sugars turn into more calories and fat, thus turning an enjoyable snack into a not so healthy one.
Try making your own granola at home with oatmeal, honey and fruit.
During the lunch hours, it may be a good idea to go easy on the veggie burgers.
They have been found to be high in hidden fats.
Granted they don't have the fat and cholesterol that a meat burger does, but they do have more calories when the dressing that holds the vegetables together and cheese is added.
Just make sure to eat them in moderation.
Make sure to note what your meal items contain and that should lead to more healthy decisions.
