- 1). Go to your local grocery or health food store, and buy a jar of coconut oil. In most cases, an average size jar costs $6 to $7.
- 2). At home, add a generous amount of coconut oil to your oatmeal for breakfast, or simply eat it raw. The coconut oil should smell fresh and not have an aftertaste.
- 3). Add coconut oil to smoothies. Make a banana and strawberry smoothie, for example, and add fresh coconut oil for added flavor. Smoothies are already healthy treats, but you can make a yummy smoothie even better by adding pure coconut oil.
- 4). Replace butter with coconut oil. Spread the oil on toast, or use it to toast vegetables at dinner. You can also bake with coconut oil and add it to recipes. When the recipe calls for butter, add coconut oil instead.
- 5). Scoop out four or five scoops of coconut oil into a glass. Heat up the oil in the microwave for two seconds so the mixture totally liquefies, then drink the oil directly from the glass. Be careful not to heat the oil up for longer than just a few seconds; otherwise, it will be too hot to drink.
