How to Replace Corn for Wood Pellets

    • 1). Turn the pellet stove's control dial to the "Off" position and open the fuel input door.

    • 2). Open the ash drawer under the firebox. Empty the ash drawer into a metal container or bury the ashes outside. Place the drawer back into the pellet stove.

    • 3). Pour a bag of wood pellets, or however many pellets will fit into your stove at one time, into the stove and shut the door.

    • 4). Turn the fuel dial to adjust what kind of fuel your are burning in the stove. Turn the fuel dial from "Corn" to "Wood pellets," if your stove has one.

    • 5). Turn on the stove.

    • 6). Adjust the thermostat setting to take into account the fact that wood pellets burn hotter than corn.
