- 1). Open the photo editing software and create a new file by going to "File" > "New." A new window will appear.
- 2). Set the resolution to be 256 x 256 for the width and height.
- 3). Click the "Advanced" option or tab depending on the program. Set the "Fill with" box to "Transparency." Hit "OK."
- 4). Create your image as you want on the canvas you have created using other images or text. If the installed fonts on your computer do not satisfy you, take a look at the link under Resources for additional free fonts. If you are using more than one line of text, put each line on its own layer to manipulate it more easily. To have the image fit the game's style, consider slating or shearing the image to make it appear as if it were done in a hurry.
- 5). Save the image as either a PNG file or a TGA file.
- 6). Run VTFEdit.
- 7). Load the image into the VTFEdit program by going to "File" > "Import." There will not be a need to change any options that will appear to you.
- 8). Save the file and the program will convert the image to a VTF file.
- 9). Run "Left 4 Dead."
- 10
Go to "Multiplayer" > "Import Spray." Find your file and hit "OK."
