What Transportation Is Available on the Las Vegas Strip?

    Monorail Transportation

    • The Las Vegas Monorail runs from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino to the Sahara Hotel and Casino with multiple stops along the way. There are seven monorail stations along the Las Vegas Strip, including the MGM Grand, Bally's and Paris hotels and casinos, Harrah's and Imperial Palace, the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Las Vegas Hilton and the Sahara.

The monorail operates daily starting at 7 a.m. and ends at 2 a.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and 3 a.m. on Fridays through Sundays.

As of September 2010 guests could ride the monorail for $5 per ride or $14 per person for an unlimited one-day pass. A three-day pass cost $30 per person.

    Trams

    • Three different trams run along the Las Vegas Strip, offering guests a ride, free of charge, to and from casinos in close proximity to each other. The Mirage-Treasure Island tram runs every fifteen minutes between 7 a.m. and 2 a.m., with a four-minute ride between the two hotels and casinos. There is a waiting area with seating at each of the trams stops.

The Bellagio-CityCenter-Monte Carlo Tram runs approximately every seven minutes between 8 a.m. and 4 a.m. The tram stops at the Bellagio Spa Tower, Crystals and the Monte Carlo. Running every three to seven minutes, the Mandalay Bay-Excalibur Tram takes guests back and forth between the two hotels and casinos from 10:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. This tram also stops at the Luxor Hotel and Casino.

    Taxis and Limos

    • Local taxi and limousine services offer transportation to and from most hotels, restaurants, casinos and other venues along the Las Vegas Strip. There is a location at the front entrance to many of these venues where guests line up on a first-come, first-served basis. Some taxi and limo services offer private pick-up from some locations for a higher rate.

Taxis are a good choice for traveling to one location then back to your hotel. Taxis can also provide a convenient ride to the airport, if you do not want to follow the shuttle service schedule.

Because taxis can be costly and have a long wait, it may be best to hire a limousine for the entire evening if you plan to move around. The limo will travel anywhere you wish to go and wait for you near the entrance for one nightly rate, not based on distance.

    Bus

    • The Citizens Area Transit (CAT) offers transportation up and down the Las Vegas Strip on a double-decker bus. As of September 2010, a one-day pass for the CAT cost $5 per person or $3 per ride. Tickets are available for purchase on the bus or at ticket vending machines located at bus stops on The Strip. There are 31 stops on The Strip between the MAX and DEUCE routes.
