Tips To Spend Summer Safely

Summer brings all the excitement and it is that time of the year when we plan for more outdoor activities.
From picnics and tours, to simple planting activities with the kids at home, we try to make summer fun and memorable.
The rising temperature however, is a matter of great concern since little carelessness can prove fatal for us.
In order to experience a fun filled summer, know how to keep your body temperature cool? When to bask in the sun and how to enjoy summer safely? Try some of these tips as you try to beat off the heat this summer.
Fluid Intake Since we tend to perspire more in the summer months we should drink plenty of water to keep ourselves hydrated.
Most of us go for the packaged chilled drinks or soda since it is more convenient but fruits and vegetable drinks can be made at home, and that too, without preservatives and sugar which is healthier.
Lemons, oranges, watermelon juices...
etc.
, can be made in a jiffy! Instead of buying from the stores spare 5-10 minutes and have fresh healthy homemade fruit and vegetable juice.
To me nothing is more thirst-quenching than a chilled glass of lemonade, herbal drinks or a glass of chilled green tea with a dash of honey and lemon.
Go ahead and generously splurge in water and healthy fruit and vegetable drinks but take care that even homemade juice when had chilled, can disrupt the digestive tracts specially when taken on an empty stomach.
It is also very important to keep in mind that we should not drink excess water.
Plenty of water hydrates our system but too much of water can lead to water intoxication called hyper hydration which can even lead to death so do not bloat yourself to ill health.
Skin care regimen Another thing we all become conscious about is a good skin care regimen.
The market is flooded with various kinds of cosmetic brands which confuses us even more so we should be very careful about buying the right products.
Researchers also claim that sunscreen products speeds cancer, it's really sad to know that after using SPF products for years the active ingredients are carcinogenic in nature.
On the other hand, studies also show that not using sunscreen can also speed up cancer so the opinion of these two schools of thought on sunscreen is more a debate, a dichotomy.
For a week, try going out without applying sunscreen and you'll be rewarded with glorious patches of sunburns, blemishes and pigmentation which won't go away for weeks and months.
Some safer solutions are herbal products which can protect against the harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Also invest in accessories like hats, goggles, scarves, long sleeved shirts and cotton clothes...
etc.
However it also doesn't mean that armored with all these products we can go out anytime of the day, it is advisable to avoid going out when the sun is at its harshest state.
Heatstroke Every summer people living in the hottest places of the world experiences cases of heat stroke or hyperthermia which means a rise in body temperature which exceeds 40.
6 °C (105.
1 °F).
A heatstroke causes severe symptoms such as heat exhaustion, palpitations, high body temperature, dizziness...
etc.
The best way to prevent a heatstroke is to stay indoors during the hottest time of the day and try to keep the body temperature cool by wearing light clothes, eating healthy foods which do not make us feel bloated and by staying in the shade as much as possible.
Diet With the temperature soaring high our liquid intake increases which is a very good sign but on the other hand, our appetite goes down the road which is not good and this may pose more health complications.
A good diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables works best for summer months since it makes the body feel lighter.
Outdoor activities Children love outdoor activities as much as we adults do and they need extra care and attention so watch out for sunburns, food poisoning, also monitor as they joyfully splash in the pool, playground injuries, their planting activity, their bicycle rides and pay attention to those bugs! We all look forward to enjoy with our family and friends during the summer season and whether we spend the summer at home or go touring, safety rules applies everywhere.
So be safe and enjoy a memorable summer which you can reminisce as the years roll by.
