Does a 6 Pool Zerg Rush Work? 3 Reasons Why It Is Not As Effective Anymore

When it comes to rushing, Zerg are practically synonymous with fast, low tier units such as Zerglings.
They even caused the popular term zerging to be invented as a result of their influence in pop culture! But the question remains; does a 6 pool Zerg rush still work as well as it used to? Or has this old school cheese become a tired strategy that everyone expects and no one gets beaten by anymore? Here are the reasons why I believe it isn't nearly as effective as it used to be.
The most obvious reason why a 6 pool Zerg rush isn't nearly as effective as it used to be is because it is such an obvious StarCraft 2 strategy! Practically ever player you get in a game with warns you about it right at the very beginning when encountering a zerg opponent.
Watch for the zerg rush! It's so incredibly obvious that someone will try it if there is the opportunity to in most games.
Another reason why a 6 pool Zerg rush is less effective than it has ever been is because of balance improvements between StarCraft 1 and StarCraft 2.
Other races are faster and can wall off a base entrance more quickly now than they originally were, so bringing in your units early means you are likely to encounter quite a bit more of your opponent's units as well.
Finally, one of the most important reasons why a 6 pool zerg rush isn't nearly as effective as it used to be is because of the workers! Workers in StarCraft 2 are now a lot more aggressive and powerful than they used to be, so you can practically counter a 6 pool Zerg rush with your workers alone.
This makes it relatively ineffective compared to other more advanced strategies.
Keep this in mind before throwing your cards on the table with a 6 pool Zerg rush!
