How to Make Custom Camping Tents

    Customizing your tent

    • 1). Plan your design with stencils or by using a graphic design program on the computer. If your printer has wide format capabilities print as one large design. If not, print in smaller sections so that it can be pieced together by overlapping the images.

    • 2). Lay your tent out flat. If using a light colored tent, tape the graphite paper to the back of your prints. If using a dark colored tent, rub white chalk across the back of the prints. Tape the prints on the tent in the desired shape and layout. If using stencils, place them where you would like the design to be drawn.

    • 3). Use a pencil to trace the design on your prints, or to draw in the stencil holes. Slowly remove the prints from the tent, making sure that the design has transferred. Use a fine-tipped marker, selecting a color that will easily show, to trace the chalk or graphite lines on the tent.

    • 4). Color your drawing. Begin by tracing the outline first. Use the paint pens to fill in your drawing just as you would a coloring page. Allow to dry.

    • 5). Spray the design with clear acrylic spray paint. Allow to dry. Repeat two more times.
