How to Make Your Lawn Green & Lush

    • 1). Water your lawn to keep the soil moist. The water carries nutrients from the soil throughout the blades. Use a sprinkler early in the day in the summer months to allow the water to seep into the soil before being evaporated by the sun.

    • 2). Aerate your lawn's soil with an aerator. The Aerator enables you to break up the soil to allow water and air to find their way deeper into the soil. Compacted soil makes the water from rain or your sprinkler sit at or near the surface of the soil where it evaporates before it can seep to the grass roots.

    • 3). Mow your lawn to the proper height. Longer blades in the summer prevent damaging drought, as the larger blades store more water and provide shade for the soil below. Sharpen your lawn mower's blade to prevent damaging the blades during the cut.

    • 4). Seed the bare spots in your lawn during the fall to revitalize the grass. Add a slow release fertilizer to the new seeding for root growth in the spring.

    • 5). Use walking path stones on the areas most traveled on your lawn. Confining the foot traffic on your lawn to specific areas with walking stones protects the other parts of your lawn from the damage of heavy foot traffic.
