Lavender & Purple Wedding Themes

    Bride, Groom and Wedding Party

    • Use a purple sash around the waist of your white bridal gown. Some bridal gown stores also offer dresses that have purple trim on the gown. For flowers, consider purple roses or a bouquet of roses and hydrangeas. Accent the purple flowers with white roses and flowers. Choose bridesmaids' dresses that are lavender or purple with white sashes to accent your bridal gown. The maid of honor's dress should be a slightly lighter (lavender) or darker shade of purple than the bridesmaids' dresses. The groomsman should accent the bridesmaids with the same color cummerbund and tie. For the groom, choose either a black or a white tux with the purple cummerbund and tie.

    Tables and Chairs

    • With a purple and lavender theme, the tablecloths should be white. Choose purple satin ribbon and crisscross the ribbon on the table. The ribbon will flow down the sides of the table. Use white or purple napkins, but have them accent the color of the dishes you choose. For instance, if you choose a purple plate, then choose a white napkin. If you choose white napkins, accent them with purple ribbon. Consider purple chairs if available, or you can have your chairs covered with purple covers and dress the covers with white ribbon.

    Wedding Cake and Favors

    • Consider lavender frosting or fondant for your wedding cake. If you choose a lavender fondant, have white flowers cascade down the cake. If you like white frosting or fondant, consider taking purple ribbon and wrapping the cake with the ribbon and purple flowers. Fill small glass flower vases with purple colored sand, mini lavender flowers, and top with a purple-colored tea light candle for favors. Or, take small bottles and make a message in a bottle. Add lavender potpourri and mini roses and fill the bottom like sand. Write a short message thanking your guests for joining you on your special day and put it in the bottle.

    Decorations

    • For the reception area, consider draping the ceiling with long purple sashes, ropes and curtains. Consider a few different colors of purple for your drapes, such as a dark purple, a medium purple and lavender. For the centerpieces make bouquets of flowers, grapes and berries. Or, take large square glass vases and fill them with purple gems and stones and put a cherry blossom in the vase. For the tables, buffet area and gift area, sprinkle purple silk flowers around. Consider large clear glass bowls with flower tops floating in them, or you can have purple floating candles in the bowls.
