- Four Seasons Golf & Ski Center (fourseasonsgolfandski.com), near the Village of Fayetteville, has facilities for downhill skiing, snowboarding and tubing. The center offers lessons and rentals for each of these activities. In addition to its ski and snowboard lifts, the Four Seasons has a conveyor that takes tubers and their tubes to the top of the hill. Highland Forest Park, in Fabius, also has facilities for tubing and sledding on its Skyland Hill, a 150-foot slope.
- Osceola Tug Hill Cross Country Ski Center (uxcski.com), in Camden, has around 25 miles of cross-country trails that are groomed daily. The resort also offers equipment rentals. The facility gets an average of 300 inches of snow a year. Highland Forest Park has 20 miles of cross-country ski trails, 11 of which are groomed daily during the winter months. Beaver Lake Nature Center, in Baldwinsville, also has cross-country ski trails, as does Onondaga Lake Park, in Liverpool. Oneida Shores Park, in Brewerton, has a three-quarter-mile cross-country skiing trail.
- Onondaga County has miles of trails appropriate for snowshoeing. Highland Forest Park has more than 30 miles of trails that range from easy to difficult. Highland Forest also offers 20- to 30-minute sleigh rides and hay rides each weekend from mid-December to mid-March from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Beaver Lake Nature Center, in Baldwinsville, offers opportunities for snowshoeing, as well as on-site snowshoe rentals.
- Syracuse Winterfest is a 12-day festival held in the Greater Syracuse area each February. First held in 1985, the event has grown over the years to become central New York's major winter event. The festival draws more than 100,000 people each year to its displays, entertainment, food, parties, cook-offs and competitions. Other activities include carving demos, comedy shows, dancing, events for kids and teens and human dog sled races.
