Earlier I've written an article on how to find a perfect guitar.
Now I've decided to write about finding a perfect guitar for your child.
The reason I've decided to do that is because there are a lot of kids that wish to learn to play guitar and their parents don't know how to go about it.
One of the biggest problem these parents face is finding the right guitar for their child to learn on.
While you don't want to buy something too expensive, since you don't know if your kid is even going to stick with it for longer than a few days, you also don't want something too cheap, as it can make it extremely hard for your child to learn.
Cheap guitars go out of tune often and brake all the time.
The challenge most parents face is finding the perfect medium to where both parents and kids can be happy.
First thing to consider before buying guitar is its size.
Depending on how old or big your kid is you need to provide the proper guitar for them.
That's because, their hands and fingers are too little for them to be able to use a regular guitar.
Usually kids between ages six and eight need a guitar that is half the size of a regular one.
Kids that are ages between nine and thirteen need a guitar that is three quarters of a regular one, and kids thirteen and over can start using a regular size guitar.
Next thing to consider is whether or not to buy a nylon string guitar or a steel string.
I am a strong believer in nylon strings guitars for beginners.
And that goes not just for kids but for adults as well.
Here is why.
When anyone is just starting to learn to play guitar their finger tips become very sore from holding down strings on the guitar.
Nylon strings are not as tough on fingers as steel ones.
They will still hurt, trust me, but they won't hurt as much.
This will make it much easier for your child to learn guitar and you will be happy knowing that your kid now has a higher chance of not giving up.
Here is a list of some guitars that will be good for your kids to learn guitar on: Yamaha CGS102A is a half size guitar with nylon strings and is perfect for kids 6-8 years old.
Price varies between $190 to $120.
Yamaha CGS103A is a three quarter size guitar with nylons strings and is perfect for kids 9-12 years old.
Price varies between $210-$130.
Yamaha CG101A is a full size guitar and works great for anyone age thirteen and higher.
Price varies between $310-$145.
You should have no problem finding these guitars at your local guitar shops.
If you're having difficulties finding them you can order them online.
Musician Friend and Amazon are always great for purchasing guitars online.
I recommend doing some research to figure out which one has better pricing as it varies daily.
