- 1). Open Publisher and click "File," then "Page Setup." Set the "Layout" scroll bar to "Full page," which gives you the standard 8.5" by 11" flyer paper.
- 2). Click the "Text" tool, which looks like an index card with an "A" in the corner, on the "Tools" palette on the left side of the screen. Click your cursor near the top of the flyer page and draw a rectangle with your mouse. A toolbar opens at the top of the screen.
- 3). Select your font, size and color from the toolbar. Choose something bold and eye catching to announce your crew's party and select a bright color. Type the flyer headline.
- 4). Draw another textbox lower on the page and type information about the party, such as date, time, location, what to bring, what to expect and what to wear. Consider highlighting any important information, such as age restrictions or dress code, in a different font color or bigger size.
- 5). Click the "Insert" menu at the top of the screen and select "Picture." If you have a party picture for the flyer, such as an image from your last crew party, click "From File," then browse to the photo and double-click it for it to appear on the flyer. Otherwise, click "Clip Art" and choose some images that best represent the party, such as martini glasses, a disco ball or glow sticks. Repeat to add multiple pictures to the poster.
- 6). (Optional) Click the "Format" menu at the top of the screen, then click "Background." Choose a pre-set background image to appear as wallpaper on the background of the flyer. Click "More backgrounds" to choose other options such as tye-dye or radial sunbursts on the "Gradient" tab or images on the "Texture" tab. If you're printing your flyer on a bright piece of colored paper, this step is unnecessary.
