- 1). Unfold the napkin completely. Place the center of one edge of the napkin between your index and middle fingers at the fold. Let the front half of the napkin hang over in front of your index finger. Pull this front edge 1/4 inch farther toward your hand so that the edges are not even.
- 2). Wrap the edges of the napkin around your fingers, forming a cup-shaped "rosebud." Pinch the paper tightly together at the base of this bud. Wrap the rosebud loosely and the stem tightly.
- 3). Twist the paper tightly together, below the bud, forming 2 inches of stem. Twist it very tightly so that it holds its shape. Remove your fingers from the rosebud.
- 4). Pull one of the bottom corners up toward the rosebud. Fold it up so that the point of the corner is 1/2 inch above the base of the bud. This will be your leaf. Pinch the base of the leaf together and continue twisting the stem.
- 5). Continue twisting the stem below the leaf. The leaf will be pulled down a bit by the twisting. That is okay. Twist the stem all the way to the end. Twist it firmly so that it will hold its shape. Fluff the rose by pulling down the outer petals just a bit.
