- 1). Fill the paten with approximately 24 wafers and place it on top of the chalice.
- 2). Fill the wine decanter about two-thirds full with wine.
- 3). Fill the reserve container with wafers to ensure you have enough for everyone.
- 4). Fill the individual cups from the trays with wine or grape juice. At least half of them should contain wine, while the others should contain grape juice for members who cannot have wine due to pregnancy or another medical condition. Keep the two types separate so that people can differentiate between the two.
- 5). Arrange all of the items onto the silver tray, including the silver spoon and its tray for removing impurities in the wine and the white cloth for wiping the edge of the cup. The layout of this arrangement will vary by congregation. Some congregations separate the wafers and wine, while others arrange them on the same tray.
- 6). Cover all of the items with the veil. These veils protect the cups and trays from getting dust and other foreign objects in them and are removed when it is time for the communion to be given. Arrange the veil so all of the items are fully hidden from sight.
