Spring Scares: Come Out and Play , The Silence , Kiss of the Damned and More

The major theatrical releases this spring are pretty light as far as horror/suspense movies go, but that doesn't mean there aren't quite a few intriguing limited releases coming out in the next couple of months.

March 8:
  • The ABCs of Death: 26 short films about death directed by 26 of the hottest names in horror.
  • The Silence: A German thriller about two young girls who go missing two decades apart. 



    March 22:
    • Come Out and Play: This remake of the cult Spanish flick Who Can Kill a Child finds a couple fighting for their lives against a town full of  killer kids.

    March 29:
    • Room 237: This unusual documentary tracks a range of wacky theories on the meaning behind Stanley Kubrick's classic film The Shining.

    April 5:
    • 6 Souls: The long-delayed movie formerly known as Shelter, starring Julianne Moore as a psychiatrist who tries to disprove the disprove the diagnosis of multiple personalities in a mysterious new patient (Jonathan Rhys Meyers).

    April 12:
    • Antiviral: David Cronenberg's son Brandon's directorial debut imagines a world in which people pay to be infected by viruses culled from celebrities.

    April 26:
    • The Lords of Salem: Rob Zombie's latest effort is about a coven of witches who return from the dead for revenge.

    May 3:
    • Kiss of the Damned: John Cassavetes' daughter Xan directed this erotic vampire tale about a mortal man who falls in love with a vampiress.

    May 17:
    • Black Rock: From husband-and-wife writer-and-director team Katie Aselton and Mark Duplass comes this story of three female friends (Aselton, Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth) who head to an island retreat and end up fighting for their lives.
