How to Make a Rainbow Door Hanger

    • 1). Punch a hole on one side of a paper dinner plate. There should be at least half an inch between the edge of the plate and the hole to make it less likely to tear.

    • 2). Grasp a set of red, blue and yellow pipe cleaners together in your hands so that they are parallel to each other. Twist them together along their entire lengths.

    • 3). Place one end of the twisted pipe cleaners through the hole you punched in the plate. Thread it from the front to the back of the plate for 2 inches.

    • 4). Bend the bottom of the pipe cleaner so that it forms a loop. Twist it with the pipe cleaner above the hole so that it securely holds the plate.

    • 5). Bend the top parts of the twisted pipe cleaners so that they resemble the hook of a clothing hanger. It can then be hung on a door knob or on a hook or nail on the door.

    • 6). Bend each of the six remaining pipe cleaners into an inverted U shape. Arrange them on the paper plate in the order of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. They should be in the middle of the plate so that there is at least 2 inches of space along the edge.

    • 7). Glue each pipe cleaner to the plate with a generous amount of glue. Have them touch each other or leave space between each.

    • 8). Place five cotton balls at each of the two ends of the rainbow to represent clouds. When you are happy with the arrangement, glue the cotton balls to the plate.

    • 9). Color with crayons a yellow sun peeking out over the top of the rainbow. Alternate yellow and orange rays.

    • 10

Color small rainbows with the crayons over the remaining empty portions of the door hanger.
