This is the way identity fraud normally happens, and would enable them to get hold of your social security number with dire consequences in some cases. So in fact you could say that for personal safety reasons you need to remove spyware and adware as soon as possible.

There are many tools online that promise to remove spyware and adware. There are a very limited number that actually work. The free tools generally are not very effective. If you want to keep yourself and your computer in good health then you'll need to at least get a free scan at one of the many available websites. Naturally, no-one can force you to remove the spyware and adware that is almost certainly on your computer. If you are happy to let strangers know what you get up to on the internet as well as passing them extremely confidential and personal information like your social security number, credit card numbers, bank information, etc. then don't look into this.
