Making money with blogs is all the rage.
You heard about someone who makes five figures a month, so you decided that you could do this too.
You created a blog, and forgot about it.
It got run over by the rest of your life.
It's dead.
I've been blogging for a decade, and have hundreds of them.
Often a student will tell me about his just-deleted website.
The blog was a few years old, but had minimal traffic, so he nuked it.
I feel like tearing my hair out when I hear this.
Never, ever delete a website.
No matter how much like roadkill it appears, consider selling it.
As the saying goes, your trash is someone else's treasure.
Let's see how we can do that.
1.
Research Similar Blogs on the Website Auction Sites Visit a couple of the website auction sites.
There are several of these, and thousands of people visit them each week buying and selling websites.
Are there blogs which are on a similar topic to yours? What have these people done with them.
You're looking for ideas which will help you to smarten up your own site so that you can sell it.
(Perhaps your site is ready to sell as is, you may not need to go through this step at all.
) 2.
Prepare Your Blog for Sale Preparing your site can be very simple.
You may want to add a little additional content, to make it more valuable to a buyer, and to show that the site is being updated.
Next, check the statistics to see how much traffic your blog has been getting.
Even tiny amounts of traffic can make your blog valuable in the eyes of a purchaser.
If you're using WordPress, make sure that your plugins are up to date, and that you've upgraded to the latest version.
Blogs are valuable online real estate.
You may think that your blog is dead, but to someone else, it will be a valuable online property.
