How do I Get Rid of Zoysia?

    • 1). Fertilizer your lawn in July. Keep the lawn watered if there is no rainfall. A healthy and actively growing lawn will absorb herbicide better.

    • 2). Spray the entire lawn in late summer with a non-selective herbicide such as glyphosate. Follow the directions on the container label, as this herbicide will kill all plants, even ones you want to keep.

    • 3). Set your lawn mower at its lowest setting. Mow the grass after it has turned brown.

    • 4). Reapply the glyphosate to any new zoysia grass growth, waiting until about one week after you see signs of grass re-emerging.

    • 5). Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until there is no new growth of Zoysia grass.
