2006 All-Star Game



Pittsburgh is ready to play ball! While the big hit is the 2006 All-Star Game on July 11 at PNC Park, the fun doesn't stop there. There are plenty of things to see and do all over town as Pittsburgh celebrates All-Star Week.

From special concerts by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to gallery crawls in the Cultural District to movie premiers at the ball park, Pittsburgh heats up in July with All-Star Week activities for everyone.


All-Star FanFest

July 7 - July 11, 2006
Baseball lovers are in for a treat when the 2006 All-Star FanFest, the largest baseball fan event in the nation, slides into Pittsburgh July 7-11 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

All-Star Days at the Pittsburgh History Center

July 7 - July 11, 2006
The Pittsburgh History Center offers five full days of family fun in celebration of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, including book signings, special gallery talks inside the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum and children's activities, such as baseball karaoke, pie-eating contests, pitching cages and more.

Habitat for Humanity All-Star Week Build

July 9 - July 11, 2006
Volunteers working with Habitat for Humanity will be building a house at Point State Park. Media day and a press conference is scheduled for the 10th. Building is tentatively scheduled from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. each day.

Taco Bell All-Star Sunday

July 9, 2006
The first of three days of Major League Baseball All-Star events at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Taco Bell All-Star Sunday features the XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game and the Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game.

MLB Home Run Derby

July 10, 2006
A Major League Baseball tradition, the MLB Home Run Derby takes place at PNC Park the day before the All-Star Game.

Eight players - four from the American League and four from the National League - slug it out to see who can get the most home runs.

The 2006 All-Star game marks the fifth time that the City of Pittsburgh has hosted the Midsummer Classic. Forbes Field was the site of the 1944 and 1959 All-Star Games and Three Rivers Stadium hosted the 1974 and 1994 All-Star Games. The 2006 All-Star Game will be held at PNC Park - considered by many to be the best ballpark in major league baseball.
