    Ethnic Groups

    • There are six main ethnic groups in Ghana. The groups are the Akan, Ewe, Ga-Adangbe, Mole-Dagbani, Guan and Gurma. Groups are ethnically homogeneous due to the migration of people and towns.

    Language

    • English is the official language of Ghana. The main African languages spoken in Ghana are Twi, Fante, Ga, Hausa, Dagbani, Ewe and Nzema, but there are several other active languages. Languages and dialects can differ among groups and tribes, but may share a common origin.

    Religion

    • The religions found in Ghana are Christian, Muslim, indigenous beliefs, Catholic and Protestant. Currently, Christianity is the largest religious group.

    Garments

    • Kente cloth is a festive cloth worn in South Africa. The cloth is worn for celebratory occasions such as festivals, marriage, birth and religious events. Adinkra is a hand-printed and hand-embroidered cloth. The cloth is associated with the Asante people's royal and spiritual leaders who used it for sacred ceremonies and rituals.
