If you have a well looked after freshwater fish aquarium then you'll hopefully appreciate the beauty of the fish in their wonderful surroundings and the comments of praise you often receive from various onlookers and passers by.
Some are saying now that there are even health benefits from owning an aquarium.
Is that true? First of all let me state that I am an ordinary person like you and the research that I have done concerning health benefits of this nature is internet based, that is to say I have not spoken to the individuals involved.
It truly is fascinating to read of these benefits that anyone can receive by simply looking at an aquarium for a period of time.
Some studies were carried out recently which apparently showed that people who had a freshwater aquarium, or any similar aquarium for that matter, tended to be more relaxed and often even healthier.
In another study, some elderly folk were given an aquarium and later their blood pressure had gone from quite high to normal.
It is understandible without a study that watching a fish aquarium for some short time does in fact make you feel just that little bit more calmer and relaxed.
Its seems that other studies have shown improvements in patients suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.
Let me stress again, you will need to do a little research of your own if you want the facts surrounding such studies.
Who would have thought eh? Owning a freshwater fish aquarium or any similar aquarium could help people with their relaxation and so it seems, their actual health.
I know personally that I most certainly feel calmer after spending just a few minutes watching the aquarium.
So, it may just be that watching the fish play keeps the doctor away.
