Laminated glass is kind of safety glass which that when is broken not scattered and therefore does not harm the people around him, and one of the examples uses is auto glass and the one of reasons  for used its consists of two layers of glass, and designed like that for when its broke prevent it from shattering into sharp pieces when cars accidents.

Between glass layers there is a substance called polyvinyl butyral (PVB), when the glass breaks the two layers are held together by the (PVB), the (PVB) layer will keep objects from penetrating through the glass and possibly injuring the car's occupants.

Laminated glass is also used in jewelry stores, prisons, hospitals, and other places where the safety is very important. Typically, two layers of glass with a thickness (0.12) inches and (3mm) are placed on either side of the (PVB) layer which is 0.015 inches, And (0.38 mm).then press the layers together to expel any air pockets. The glass is then heated to 158 degrees Fahrenheit (about 70 degrees celsius).

Additional layers of glass and (PVB) will increase the strength of laminated glass. For example, the glass that forms the front windows of airliners often consists of three sheets of 0.23 inch (6mm) glass with thick layers of (PVB) between them.
