Writing articles and getting them published to article directories is a simple but effective way to market your private label rights products. It's also a great way to send free traffic to your blog or sales page.
Submitting articles to article directories has long been recognized as a powerful tool by internet marketers. Many successful online marketers have used article submission as a way to draw attention to their products and services. It's also been used as an effective email list building tool.
The basics of article marketing is that an author writes an interesting article and submits it to as many directories as possible, in hopes that other bloggers will notice and publish it on their blog or website. The conditions for republishing the article is that it has to be used as is - with all of the backlinks intact. If a reader likes the article, hopefully he/she will click on one of the links you have embedded in the article.
Article marketing is not as easy as it sounds, however. Some directories have very stringent guidelines regarding the articles they'll accept. Usually, stricter guidelines mean a better quality directory. These are the directories that you want to have your articles published in. Here are some tips to ensure that your articles will not be turned away:
1. Carefully consider the topic of your article.
If you want to have your articles accepted by the directory and published for all to find, you have to have new and interesting content. It's alright to use private label rights articles that you've acquired, but make sure you rewrite them slightly or add some new content. Although it's tempting to use it as it comes, it's highly likely that the article has already been submitted as is by another marketer. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of others who have the same PLR articles that you have.
If you have a specific niche you'd like to promote, pick a sub-topic related to that niche and try to limit the article to no more than 500 words. Quantity does not necessarily mean quality in this instance. For example, let's say your niche is landscaping. Instead of writing a general article about landscaping, break it down into something more specific. For example:
- How To Landscape Around Your Pool
- Turning Your Leaves Into A Compost Pile
- Tips For Choosing A Landscaping Company
2. Don't make your article a fancy ad for your product.
Article directory administrators are looking for new, fresh content. They've no doubt seen it all before. The better the content they have, the more people will use their directory and publish their articles. The last thing they want is to turn into a classifieds site or a place for marketers to advertise their products for free.
You'd just be wasting your time and energy by doing this because the article would likely be turned away. If it is accepted, the chances of a blogger publishing it are slim to none. Bloggers want to give their readers good content, not sales copy. Most directories provide an author resource box. This is the place for you to drop a plug for your product, not in the body of the article.
3. Provide fresh views on old ideas.
Not much exists today that can't be restated or reordered to make it a new article with great possibilities for traffic generation and conversions. The public is starving for information on every topic imaginable. You can use a keyword tool to find the topics in your niche that are being searched for. You'll even be able to tell how many people searched for a particular phrase or topic.
4. Offer new solutions to problems that we all have.
You may have heard the saying, "There's more than one way to skin a cat." Although I'm not quite sure if I want to know where it originated, the message is pretty clear. Theres's more than one way to go about doing just about anything.
Problems are everywhere in our daily lives. Solutions can easily be found on the internet, but if you provide a new or unique way to solve a problem, you'll no doubt be remembered by the reader. A list or article that gives instructions on how to overcome a problem is warmly welcomed by article directory publishers because everybody can relate to that information. Be creative and unique and you'll start to see your articles appearing all over the internet.
5. Create a new list of steps to get something done.
People love detailed step-by-step lists that break it down to the letter. Articles that explain how to accomplish internet or technical tasks are especially popular. Some people aren't as computer savvy as others and need detailed explanations. You can capitalize on this.
Articles of this nature are among the most popular on all of the directories. Many people are interested in HTML related articles. One of the most popular articles on my blog teaches aspiring webmasters how to create a favicon for their web page. Another shows them how to make their blogs "dofollow". These are basic web page building tasks, but until you know, you don't know. Get the idea?
6. Read articles in your niche that have attracted a lot of traffic.
Another useful tip is to read popular articles in their directory that are related to your niche. Most article directories provide statistics for their articles, like how many times it's been viewed or downloaded.
Look carefully at the titles. What are they teaching people? Are there any other topics related to that article that you could touch upon? Look at some list type articles. As you are reading down the list, look at the individual steps that the author has listed. Sometimes one of those steps is a whole process in and of itself and the author may not have explained it in depth. That's your chance to capitalize on that topic.
7. Put yourself in the reader's shoes.
Another thing you should do is put yourself in the reader's shoes. If something seems vague or confusing to you, chances are it's confusing to someone else also. Search out a remedy and write a clarifying article. It will almost certainly be accepted. Follow these tips, and you're well on your way to creating many viral articles.
8. Proofread your articles.
This is common sense and should go without saying. Unfortunately, many marketers are in such a hurry to get their articles published that they don't proofread their submissions. You may have just written the most informative article ever written on a subject, but if it's loaded with bad grammar, that's what people will remember. If your spelling isn't all that good, most publishing platforms provide a spell checker. If it's grammar that's bogging you down, there's a simple solution. All you need to do is consult a book. It could be a fiction novel, non-fiction novel, magazine, etc. If you are unsure abouthow to use quotes, simply look in the book and find a similar situation. You can then see how the book has gone about it.
These are just 8 tips to help you get your articles published. There are many more, but these 8 are the basics. If you follow these you shouldn't have a problem getting your articles accepted by all of the top directories.
