Dealing With a Destructive Dog

My dog is actually pretty well behaved now that's she gotten older.
She doesn't tear up my shoes, destroy chair legs, or jump on the furniture with dirty paws.
She knows the rules of the house and respects them.
But it wasn't always this way and for many people it's not this way at all.
Without apparent reason, our dogs will do things that make no sense whatsoever.
Dogs are a lot like us, they have emotions and feel lonely.
They feel neglected or even get angry.
So remember this when you're wondering why you're dog is peeing in your shoes or eating your rug.
Most of the time these actions are the direct result of something you are doing (or not doing), and it's something that (should someone else do it to you) would make you react the same way.
Leaving your dog alone for long periods of time is stressful for a lot of dogs, they suffer from separation anxiety and this often leads to acting out.
Boredom is another factor.
Sometimes it's as simple as turning on the radio and making sure your dog has its favourite toy while you're out.
One of the most common things I see are people who do not take their dogs out to run often enough.
It doesn't take much, but your dog needs more than just a short walk around the block.
Get them out and let them really explore things, bring a ball or Frisbee, and plenty of water.
If your dog likes being in the car, take them out for a ride.
Dogs, like people, need an outlet for their energy and they need to feel loved.
Your dog loves you very deeply and, because it doesn't have as many worries and concerns as we do in our day to day lives, it doesn't understand why you can't just stay with it forever.
This is why we love our dogs.
