- 1). Cut out pictures from old magazines until you have enough pictures to cover your ceiling. Use the existing ceiling color to create negative space between photos or overlap the photos to create a solid surface. Use scissors or an art knife to cut out the pictures. Use a straight edge when you want to create a straight cut.
- 2). Apply Mod Podge or some other decoupage glue to the back of the first picture with a painting sponge.
- 3). Place the picture onto your desired location on the ceiling. Remove air bubbles or excess glue by running an old credit card or thick paper stock over the surface of the picture. Start from the center of the picture and work your way out. Glues made specifically for decoupage dry hard and clear.
- 4). Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have installed all the pictures onto the ceiling.
- 5). Apply a thin, even coat of decoupage glue over the pictures with your painting sponge. Allow 15 to 20 minutes for the glue to dry.
- 6). Apply a second coat of decoupage glue over the pictures with your painting sponge. Allow 24 hours drying time before placing anything else on the ceiling.
