    Cliff Pond

    • Cliff Pond is located just south of Cape Cod in Nickerson State Park in Brewster. It's considered a natural kettle pond by the State of Massachusetts and is 204 acres and up to 88 feet deep in some areas. According to New England Game and Fish, this is the most heavily stocked pond with trout in the Cape Cod region. Rainbow, brookies and brown trout are released into Cliff Pond every spring and fall. In addition, Broodstock Atlantic salmon are also released into the water each spring and winter.

    Lake Mattawa

    • Lake Mattawa in Orange is known for its ice fishing and summer trout fishing. It's located roughly a half-hour away from Greenfield. This 112 acre body of water is stocked with brown and rainbow trout every spring. According to North Quabbin Woods, the water is so clear, you can see 15 feet below the water's surface. In addition to trout, anglers can also catch Atlantic salmon, smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, bluegill, yellow perch, golden shiner, white sucker and brown bullhead.

    Greenwater Pond

    • Greenwater Pond in Becket is an 88 acre pond that's 58 feet deep in some areas. According to the State of Massachusetts, this lake is very clear you can see 23 feet below the water's surface. The Department of Fish and Game stocks Greenwater Pond with rainbow trout in the spring. The water is so cold, trout can survive year to year without having to be restocked. In addition to fishing for trout, anglers can also find bullhead and smallmouth bass swimming in this reservoir. The shoreline varies from mud to rock to sand and gravel depending on what part of the lake you are fishing.

    Lake Chauncy

    • Lake Chauncy is located in Westborough. This 185 acre pond is 14 feet deep. According to the State of Massachusetts, you can find large and smallmouth bass in the lake, along with bluegills, pumpkinseeds, white and yellow perch, chain pickerel, brown and yellow bullheads, northern pike and tiger muskies. The shoreline is wooded, but there is access to the waterway near the Westboro Wildlife Management Area property.
