- 1). Open a blank document in Microsoft Word on your computer.
- 2). Choose Text Box from the Insert pull-down menu. The Insert menu may be accessed from the toolbar across the top of the Word program.
- 3). Draw a large, square text box in the middle of the screen using the mouse. The text box may be adjusted at any time.
- 4). Type the monogram initial inside the box.
- 5). Re-size the text to a large size, 150 pt. or higher.
- 6). Change the font using the pull-down menu on the upper left corner of the screen; usually, the font will be defaulted to Times New Roman.
- 7). Experiment with fonts until you get the look you want.
- 8). Change the color using the box next to the font size pull-down menu. The monogram should match the wedding colors.
- 9). Add text boxes to type in the additional elements of the monogram. Many brides include the date, and sometimes the first initials or names of the bride and groom. Use separate text boxes for each, so you may move them around and arrange the monogram as desired.
- 10
Right-click on any text box and choose the "format text box" option in order to add or remove borders. - 11
Draw a last text box around the whole design to encompass the entire monogram in a border, if desired. - 12
Save the monogram in Word and take a screen shot of it using your Prt Src button (you may need to hit Fn-Prt Src). - 13
Open Paint from the Accessories menu and hit the Paste option to copy the screen shot into the program. - 14
Use the Select or Crop tool, depending on your version of Paint, to select only the monogram. Save the image. Now, you may open the entire image in Word or Paint and re-size it as desired.
