Different Types Of Tiles For Your Floor

Ceramic Tile
One of the most popular types of flooring tile is made from ceramic. With ceramic tiles you will get a floor that is durable. Because of the popularity of ceramic tiles, there are numerous colors and sizes readily available.

If you choose to install ceramic tiles in your home, you should be prepared to maintain them. The grout between tiles is notoriously difficult to keep clean. Some people will select darker grouts in an effort to avoid this problem.

Keep in mind that ceramic tiles will be noticeably colder to stand on than your vinyl flooring. Depending on the type of ceramic tile that you have selected it may be slippery to walk on. This is especially true if the tilefloors have been recently cleaned or they are wet.

Marble Tile
Marble tiles are great if you want beautiful flooring that is going to be durable and last for several years. This material is extremely strong so if you drop something, such as a beverage glass or plate, you can expect it to break when it hits the marble tile.

There are two major downsides to marble tiles. Compared to other types of tile flooring, marble tiles are much more expensive. Marble is also very porous, which means it is susceptible to staining. This can be overcome with a sealant, but keep in mind this may need to be applied on a regular basis in order to maintain its effectiveness.

Granite Tile
Although granite tiling is decently popular, granite tiles are quickly taking over. granite tiles have certain advantages that make it a wonderful option for the kitchen. Unlike granite and marble, granite is nonporous. This means you won't have to worry about regularly sealing the material or staining.

Slate Tile
Although it is less common than some flooring alternatives, slate tiles are very practical for your kitchen. This type of material will resist the moisture that you will typically find in a kitchen. Slate is also not prone to staining.

A major benefit of slate tiles in your kitchen is their texture. Because they do not have a particularly smooth or shiny finish you won't have to worry about slipping and falling on this type of tile!
