- The best, and most inexpensive, way to make a nursery cute is to paint it. Even a simply coat of pale blue on the walls will cozy up a baby boy's room. To make it even cuter, add some details. Fluffy clouds in a blue sky, butterflies in the air, and flowers growing from the baseboards are all ways you can spice up otherwise bland walls. You can even add architectural details to the walls, such as a chair rail topped with a sweet wallpaper boarder, or clean white wainscoting behind the crib.
- Next, you should add artwork to the walls. If you have a theme in mind, try drawing or painting simple items from that theme and framing them. Alternately, tear pages out of a children's book (check for some at thrift stores), frame them, and hang them on the walls. Another easy way to add cuteness to a nursery is to hang the child's name on the wall. Almost all craft stores sell simple wooden letters that you can paint and decorate yourself, then hang above the changing table or elsewhere on the wall. Finally, consider adding a quote to the wall, perhaps above the crib. You can purchase pre-made quotes that are made of vinyl. Simply rub them onto the wall, and peel them off later if you want to re-do the room.
- Babies love different textures, and combining them in a nursery is an excellent way to warm up the room. A colorful, nubby rug in the middle of the floor is adorable in a baby's room, and so is a quilt hung on the wall. A cushy chair filled with stuffed animals is a safe and snuggly place for you and your baby to read. A valance over a window softens the harsh lines of the window and filters the light, making a nursery even lovelier. Add more decorative but functional accessories, such as a small pink or blue lamp and a few special toys in a wicker basket, and your baby's nursery will be the cutest on the block!
