When it comes to traveling, most people will simply put their interest in what excitements their destination places may have to offer.
However, if fitness is important to you - you should also think about how you can stay fit as well! Fortunately enough, there are indeed quite a few things that you can do to make sure your health stays in tiptop shape while having a vacation abroad.
To start it off, if you are planning to go to Israel for example, chances are Tel Aviv will be on top of your destination list.
The reason for that might probably be the well-known clubbing scene and shopping places the city has to offer.
Obviously, there are many gyms in Tel Aviv where one can find all the equipment you need to stay in shape.
Tel Aviv is no difference from any other major city in world.
However, in some cities you may find that the closest gym is simply "out of reach".
So another alternative is you can try the self weight resistance exercises over at one of the beaches if available.
Nowadays - many of the beaches have some facilities such as pull up bars and so on.
Another thing you might do is to try asking in advance if there are any gyms / fitness centers around the hotel you are about to book.
Don't be shy and "double-check" again while checking in the hotel - sometimes the people at the desk seem to know everything about everything...
Between you and me - I often don't have the will power to "drag" myself into a gym while on vacation.
But then again, If you think about it - knowing that there is a gym nearby will often motivate you to actually go there.
If you are really serious about it: First check for gym locations, then book your hotel.
For example this list of gyms in Tel Aviv is sorted according to location.
One more important thing you should do in case you want to keep your body fit while on vacation is to keep away from those fast food restaurants! I personally recommend eating local, traditional foods or buying some local fruit and vegetables for 2 reasons: The first being the freshness of the food.
Local foods will always be fresher than imported foods.
Second reason is that it is a great way to maybe get familiarized with new spices, tastes and exotic food.
Not only that, but it is no longer a secret that fast foods can often prove to be pretty harmful for your health.
Packing some protein bars from home (or bought locally) is also a good idea.
This is because protein bars can often be taken in place of a small meal.
They are not necessarily snacks only, but also provide good nutritional value and are also lightweight.
With that being said, protein bars become quite a good choice for traveling to a far distance.
Last but not least, try to stay away from alcohol when possible.
At least don't go binge drinking - it is very harmful for the liver and also it will cause you to gain a massive amount of calories! When you are going on a trip is it important to enjoy yourself as much as possible.
After all, that is the point of it.
Just don't forget do to things in a moderate way - Don't eat too much food nor drink too much alcohol just because you are away from home.
Instead take the change to maybe do other things you normally wouldn't do: take long walks and tour the surroundings, avoid using taxis, try renting a bicycle, the options never end! Enjoy your vacation!
