Pregnancy and Weight Gain, Keeping It Light

Weight gain is one of the things that all women go through during their pregnancies.
While there are expectant mothers who will only gain just the right amount of weight during pregnancy, there are others who gain weight excessively.
There are actually ways for you to avoid excessive weight gain during pregnancy.
All it takes are strong will power, determination, discipline and control.
There are many factors that contribute to the weight gain that you will inevitably go through during pregnancy.
These include the weight of your baby, the presence of amniotic fluid and the increase of your blood volume.
A healthy weight gain during pregnancy is pegged between 25 and 35 pounds.
This recommended average weight gain though would have to depend on whether you are overweight or underweight.
If you are overweight, then you still need to gain at least 15 pounds.
If you are underweight though, you would also need to at least add on 10 to 15 pounds more to the recommended average weight gain.
This is to ensure that your baby's growth inside your womb is as healthy and as normal as can be.
It is best to consult with your doctor on how much weight you should gain depending on your height and body structure.
Now, your problem would be how to keep things light so you can just reach the average weight gain during your pregnancy.
This is no mean feat, as you, like all other pregnant women, will go through cravings that will just about destroy the balanced diet that you are planning to have for yourself.
There is really no need to deny all your cravings for sweet foods or what not when you are pregnant.
You can satisfy these cravings but only in moderation and you must stick to your plan for the best nutrition as much as possible.
Instead of taking a large slice of cake for your sweet cravings, try to take on just a small slice, then make up for this by taking only a cup of mixed fruits for your next snacks.
It also never hurts to exercise regularly to trim off what weight you might have gained after eating that single scoop of icecream.
Always keep in mind though that while you may be eating for yourself and your baby, this does not mean that you take double portions of everything.
Remember that it is better to eat light meals at frequent intervals than gorging on large meals two or three times a day.
So, don't despair about weight gain during pregnancy, as it does not mean that you won't gain back your original weight before you became pregnant.
Everything that happens to you during pregnancy is always your own making, so if you want to regain your normal weight as fast as possible, keep things light and healthy at all times.
