How to Connect a Digital TV Receiver to a TV With No A/V Inputs

    • 1). Check the back of the TV to determine what types of connections are available. Even very old television sets are equipped with a pair of screws labeled "UHF" and "VHF In." These are for connecting an external antenna. Some TVs have a threaded jack labeled "Coax In" for a coaxial cable. If the TV has a coaxial jack, skip to Step 3.

    • 2). Loosen the two screws on the back of the TV and attach the two Y connectors on the adapter to the screw posts, one connector to each post. Tighten the screws to secure the adapter. An image of the adapter is linked in the References section below.

    • 3). Connect a coaxial cable to the "Coax In" jack on the back of the TV or to the "Coax" jack on the adapter if used in Step 2. The cable attaches with a threaded coupler to the jack by turning clockwise.

    • 4). Connect the other end of the cable to the "RF Out" jack on the digital converter box.

    • 5). Attach a second coaxial cable to the "RF In" jack on the digital converter box and connect the other end of the cable to the "Coax Out" jack on the back of the digital TV receiver.
