Pretty much every adult has at least one moment of "I would really like to have my own garden!" One man might think to himself "I'd like to grow my own vegetables!" Perhaps someone dreams of creating a lush rose garden. It doesn't matter what you want to grow or why you want to grow it; the important thing is finding the right tools to help you grow your garden. Just about everything you do in a garden can be done using your hands (and your own personal brute strength). With the right gardening tools you can save yourself quite a bit of time as well as prevent basic wear and tear on your body. Here are a few gardening tools that will help you complete your project.
Gardening gloves are something that every gardener should have whether you are a beginner or an expert. Your gardening gloves will protect your hands while you work in your garden. Gloves protect your hands as you dig in the dirt-something that most gardeners find uniquely satisfying. Rose gardeners, for example, use gardening gloves to protect their hands from getting scratched up and stuck by thorns.
Gloves also provide protection for your hands when you work with substances that will leave residue behind like fertilizer and compost. Gloves can also protect your hands against bugs you might encounter on your plants or in the dirt.
Every gardener will be able to find use for a pitchfork-even if the garden plot is very small! Pitchforks can do the same things that your trowels and spades can do but on a larger scale. They are awesome for aerating your garden soil, moving around your compost and turning the earth in your garden. As compost breaks down it will need to be turned-this is something that only a pitchfork can do easily and quickly. If you don't turn the pile regularly it just hardens and becomes useless.
A wovel is essential. Gardeners can choose between wovels with short handles and wovels with long handles. A wovel is almost like a shovel except for the fact that it has a rounded point. Most gardeners opt for the wovel with the short handle because it aids in their balance while wovels with long handles do not.
The wovel's main purpose is to dig holes. If you want to lift a plant without worrying about getting the root system tangled or doing damage to the plant's root bulb, use a wovel (they can also be used for moving dirt). You can also use your wovel to press down the earth when you plant your seedlings or move your plants from place to place. Most people dream of having their own garden at least one or two times in their lives. When you plant your first garden you will probably want to buy all of the different gardening tools at the local nursery. You'll think every tool is a "must have." The best thing you can do as a new gardener is to buy a few simple tools that you know you will use no matter how big your garden will grow. After that you can purchase new tools as you find you need them. This is the best way to get the tools you need for your garden without depleting your bank account.
