- The gift of wisdom enlightens the spirit to feel God's presence in the everyday events of ordinary life.
- The Holy Spirit grants understanding as a guide in a Catholic's daily life and decisions. Confirmed Catholics have access to a greater capacity for understanding through prayer, discernment and the sacraments.
- This gift heightens the sense of right and wrong. It also gives young Catholics the strength, through prayer and devotion, to reject what is wrong and choose what is right.

Recognizing God's power, perfection and goodness, a spiritual person can only respond and with wonder, awe and fear. This gift unites a soul more honestly with the God of creation.
