- Using a WLAN1 connection, the Sony Mylo COM-2 can connect to IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi Internet hotspots. This connectivity allows Mylo COM-2 users to access online messaging and telephony functions. The device supports Pre-Shared Key WPA wireless security, specifically the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol and Advanced Encryption Standard types, as well as 64-bit and 128-bit open system and shared-key WEP security. Apart from wireless Internet connectivity, the Mylo COM-2 includes a 10-pin, 160-ohm input for connecting a headset, a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones, and a mini USB jack for connecting the Mylo COM-2 to a computer.
- The Sony Mylo COM-2 can support three different Microsoft Windows operating systems: Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000 Professional, provided it has Windows Service Pack 4 or later. Users of the Mylo CMO-2 can send instant messages via four instant messaging programs: AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger and Skype. Skype also provides the device with Internet voice calling capabilities. For Web browsing, the Mylo COM-2 includes a preloaded Access NetFront browser with Adobe Flash Lite 3.
- To control the software features of the Sony Mylo COM-2, users can manipulate one of two primary hardware interfaces: a keyboard and a touch panel display screen. The Mylo COM-2's keyboard slides out from behind the device, providing a full QWERTY key configuration. The touch-sensitive display screen relies on LCD technology and can provide a wide video graphics array resolution of 800 by 480 pixels. This means the Mylo COM-2's screen can display a total of 384,000 pixels. The screen has a size of 3.5 inches, as measured along its diagonal.
- Excluding protrusions, the Sony Mylo COM-2 has dimensions of approximately 5.15 inches long by 2.5 inches wide by 0.81 inches thick. With its battery attached, the device weighs about 6.8 oz. or 0.43 lbs. The Mylo COM-2's battery relies on lithium-ion technology and has a charge capacity of 1200 mAh.
- The Sony Mylo COM-2 comes with 1 gigabyte of internal memory for storing data, such as image, music and video files. The device also provides a memory expansion slot, which can support up to 8GB of Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick PRO Duo flash memory.
- The Sony Mylo COM-2 has a built-in, 1.3-megapixel camera, which means it can capture images using 1.3 million pixels of resolution. The camera also supports MPEG4 video recording and has a macro mode for taking close-up photos of small objects.
