- 1). Research the reasons teachers deserve respect. Possibilities include the education they must obtain, their dedication and societal responsibility, or their pay relative to other jobs.

Arrange your information into five separate sections: an introduction where the thesis is stated, three individual sections that each offer a main point that supports your thesis statement, and a conclusion where you recap your thesis and the facts that support it. These sections may be paragraphs or pages, depending on the length requirement of your essay.
- 4). Develop an outline for your essay. One method for developing an outline is to write headings for the sections you have identified, followed by specific highlights that apply to each. An outline for an essay about respecting teachers might look like this:
Paragraph one: State thesis: "Teachers deserve respect."
Paragraph two: Teachers deserve respect because they have many years of education and training. Following this main topic would be subpoints about the amount of education and training teachers must have before they are certified, and the amount of testing and continuing education they must have to remain licensed.
Paragraphs three and four: Other reasons teachers deserve respect.
Paragraph five: Conclusion. - 5). Expand on each section with the information you found in your research. Include facts and quotes with proper citations. Write complete sentences and full paragraphs.
- 6). Proofread your essay for typographical errors and misspellings.
- 7). Create a bibliography or "works cited" page if you have been instructed to do so.
