Say you are about to buy a guitar.
Most people would know about the electric guitars and the normal, wooden acoustic guitar.
But did you know that there are others as well? The other three which are not so famous are the acoustic electric, classical and bass guitar types.
The acoustic is easily recognized as the mainstream guitar, or rather standard.
When a person thinks of a guitar, he will most likely think of the acoustic guitar, a wooden type.
It works by resonance and vibrations of the six steel strings that are spread through the wood body.
Quality of wood determines the tone richness and overall performance.
An electric guitar works like an acoustic guitar, also with six strings and same tunings with the latter.
But, this time there is an electronics pick up system.
The strings are much softer, therefore allowing great flexibility for fast plucking and strumming of the guitar.
Vibrations of the strings are then picked up by the pick up system to be converted to electrical signals.
Then the electric signals will go directly into the amplifier, creating sounds of an electric guitar.
A classical guitar is similar to the acoustic.
Instead of utilizing steel strings, they are played on nylon strings.
Nylon strings are great for plucking.
Plucking, the preferred style when playing a classical guitar is the individual picking of the guitar strings with fingers.
The acoustic electric is also similar to the electric guitar.
It is an improved version of the acoustic.
A transducer or pick up system works to amplify the resonance and sounds produced by the steel strings.
Ideally, this kind of guitar is used for stage performances.
Now, the earlier mentioned acoustic guitar would not be able to produce sounds loud enough for an audience of ten thousand people, would it? Finally, a bass guitar, also mentioned last for its lowest popularity among all types.
Essentially, they are a must for a band.
The bass has four strings, which are hugely thick.
Therefore, enabling the deep bass tones to be produced.
Bass notes are very much needed for providing strength and connecting the other band instruments together.
