A little further west will take you to Castillo de la Duquesa, this is another town that is packed with Roman relics: Plaza del Banos Romanos (Roman Baths) and excavations have uncovered relics from a fish paste industry that was a prime source of food for this ancient civilisation.
There is also a castle here too that is now used to house municipal offices and is used for temporary museum exhibits.
Finally, Punta Chullera is a mixture of farmland and coastal area.
Its beaches are considered more comfortable than other stretches of flat beach.
It also boasts great fishing and is a popular place for divers.
These local towns and villages will host a range of shops that may give you the unique souvenir to take home but if you want to fill that shopping list then travelling into Marbella will do it, as it offers some wonderful shops.
It also offers a host of other facilities if you want a break from the tranquil and traditional way of Andalucian life in Manilva.
Though Manilva is 100km away from the nearest airport of Malaga it is relatively unspoilt and so therefore places like these are being sought out by tourists and those wanting to perhaps live in traditional Spanish settings.
The easiest ways to transfer from the airport to Manilva is to take the shuttle service, which is best to be booked ahead of your journey.
These can often be done at the same time as buying your flight tickets.
Another way is to rent a car, which will enable you to get around easier to the local towns and villages and perhaps take a shopping visit or a round of golf.
