- 1). Start by laying down a freshly washed mattress pad to keep the mattress clean and dry.
- 2). Cover the mattress pad with a fitted sheet. Pull the elastic corners all of the way under the lip of the mattress for a firm hold.
- 3). Snap fitted sheet clips onto each corner for extra hold if the sheet corners tend to slip off the mattress.
- 4). Spread a top sheet over the bed with the seam near the top facing down. Keep the top of the sheet one foot from the head of the bed.
- 5). Tuck in the bottom edge of the sheet along the bottom of the bed.
- 6). Move to the side of the bed and grasp the side edge of the sheet approximately one foot from the end of the bed.
- 7). Pull up on the side edge of the sheet high enough to pull the bottom edge's corner around the side of the bed, then tuck the bottom edge under the side of the bed.
- 8). Tuck the side edge of the sheet under the bed to keep the bottom edge in place.
- 9). Repeat on the other side of the bed. The end result should be a taught, smooth sheet with clean folds and tucks. You may need to try a few times to get it right, but "practice makes perfect."

Cover the bed with a blanket and fold the top end of the sheet over the top edge of the blanket for a finishing touch. You may fold the bottom ends of the blanket into the hospital corners.
