- 1). Trim the stems off the berries and rinse in a colander.
- 2). Pat the berries dry with paper towels and place in a non-reactive bowl.
- 3). Sprinkle sugar by tablespoonfuls over the berries until they reach the desired sweetness. Your recipe and the natural flavor of the berries will determine the amount of sugar to add.
- 4). Toss the berries and sugar so the berries are evenly coated. Transfer the berries to a colander and place the colander inside the bowl to catch dripping berry juices.
- 5). Let the berries sit for 30 to 100 minutes for the sugar to draw out excess moisture.
Add the berries to your recipe as directed.
