- 1). Purchase a weapon or use a cheat code to unlock a full arsenal of weapons. All firearms in the game are capable of performing head-shots, but rifles and sniper rifles are the most accurate.
- 2). Visit an Ammu-Nation. There are several Ammu-Nations located in each "GTA" game.
- 3). Head to the shooting range of the Ammu-Nation. Here you can practice head-shots without running the risk of increasing your wanted level. The shooting ranges are usually found in the inside of the building in the back room. Occasionally, Ammu-Nation shooting ranges are located in the back of the actual Ammu-Nation building.
- 4). Raise to fire by pressing the "R1" button if you are playing on the PlayStation 2. To aim your weapon, hold the "R1" button and move the right analog stick. Fire with the "Circle Button." Press the "Right Trigger" button to aim your weapon and the "Left Trigger" button to fire if you are playing on Xbox.
- 5). Tap the "R2" button to ready your weapon in "GTA IV." Aim with the right analog stick and fire by pressing the "R2" button all the way down. Press the "Right Trigger" button lightly if you are playing on Xbox 360 to ready your weapon. Aim your weapon with the right analog stick and fire by pressing the "Right Trigger" button all the way down.
- 6). Practice your head-shots in the Ammu-Nation shooting range until you can confidently hit a target's head in one try. It is especially hard to get a head-shot in "GTA IV" due to the touchy shooting controls, so spend more time in the range practicing before you hit the streets if you are playing that edition of "GTA."
- 1). Purchase the weapons you want to practice your head-shots with or use a cheat code to obtain them.
- 2). Explore the city and find a suitable spot to shoot from. Your shooting spot should be elevated and provide cover from police officer attacks.
- 3). Shoot at passing civilians. Your wanted level will increase as you kill civilians and police officers. You can use cheat codes or "Star" icons scattered throughout the city to lower your wanted level. Additionally, in "GTA IV," you can lower your wanted level by escaping the wanted area marked on your in-game GPS.
- 4). Press the "R1" button to ready your weapon if you are playing on the PlayStation 2. To aim your weapon, move the right analog stick in any direction. Fire by pressing the "Circle" button.
- 5). Hold down the "Right Trigger" button to ready your weapon if you are playing on Xbox. Aim your weapon by moving the right analog stick and fire by pressing the "Left Trigger" down.
- 6). Tap and lightly hold the "R2" button to ready your weapon in "GTA IV" for the PlayStation 3. Aim your weapon by moving the right analog stick and fire it by pressing the "R2" button all the way down. Lightly press on the "Right Trigger" button to ready your weapon if you are playing "GTA IV" on the Xbox 360. Aim your weapon by moving the right analog stick and fire by pressing the "Right Trigger" button all the way down.
- 7). Crouch when you can. Crouching makes your shots more accurate, although it does lessen your mobility.
