Democracy is the gift of the present era to humanity, Is it a boon or bane, Depends upon us, the users? We are often hurt, By an indiscreet remark or action of: An in-law, a spouse, a friend or a stranger.
We have a choice, To remember and be sad or to forget and smile.
It is up to us to decide.
We can hate or love: a person, an idea, a community, a nation or a religion, We can feel superior to others due to color, race or religion; We have a choice, either we are proud or humble.
This is what democracy is, all about; To exercise our right to choose.
But it makes a lot of difference, by what we choose, To us, to our family, to our society, to humanity and to this world.
Let our choice, integrate humanity; A Berlin Wall divides humanity.
Divisive Solutions In search of peace and harmony, We divided: Germany, Korea, Vietnam and Sudan, and nearly all erstwhile colonial countries; Pakistan created out of India, on religion basis, Bangla Desh carved out of Pakistan, on language basis, Yugoslaviafragmented, in search of a peaceful solution.
USSRfragmentedinto 17 nations, in search of harmony.
Peace is still elusive.
Who will reunite, undo the fragmentations? There are 'Berlin Walls', Between Protestants and Roman Catholics of Northern Ireland.
There is divisive politics, an itching for separation, In the mindset of Chechenians, Kashmiris and Tamilians in Sri Lanka.
In search of harmony, we create more countries, In each country, we create more states, In each religion, we create sub-religions, always at loggerheads with one another, In each community, we have sub groups, claiming superior status.
Let us stay away from all the divisiveness in the world, Based on any classification; Let us hope, The divisiveness in the world is soon bulldozed by laws of economics, Inthe near future.
Divisiveness Within a Family, In the mindset of our families, There are Berlin walls.
There isdivide, Between social relations, Between in-laws and between spouses.
Intolerant different views, The inability to forget hurts, caused by each-other, Blaming one another of playing games, And talking about others and not with others, Have created Berlin walls everywhere.
Let us curtail, The divisive forces, any concept which divides humanity, Based on religion, language, color, or race.
These have created violence, wars, unhappiness all around us, Created snobs, served selfish interests of fundamentalists and politicians.
Let all international problems be solved, by integration and not division, To divide is easy, but it never ensures peace.
A divisive politics isdestructive to humanity, in the long run.
Let the Berlin Walls be demolished all around.
It was successfully done in Berlin.
Let us continue the crusade.
