How to Check for a Business License in Nevada

    • 1). Get identifying information. To check a business license, you will need some information to identify the business entity to which the license was issued. State business licenses can be searched by the name of the business, its entity number, its NV ID number, the name of an officer of the business, or the name of its registered agent.

    • 2). Search secretary of state records. The Nevada secretary of state maintains a free online searchable database of business entities. The database can be searched by any of the information described in Step 1. For each entry, all the issued state licenses will be listed, as well as the expiration date or other status of the license.

    • 3). Search for city licenses. If the business license in question was issued by a city, it can be found at the city's website. Las Vegas, for example, has a database similar to that of the state, searchable by business name, address, license number, owner or category code. Reno simply publishes a PDF list of all issued licenses, and it maintains a separate list of recently issued licenses.
