    • Charles Schwab offers up to six months of online commission-free stock trades through its active trader program. The program offers a maximum of 250 commission-free trades, including ETFs and options. To qualify, investors must deposit a minimum of $50,000 into a new Schwab account and commit to making a minimum of 36 online trades annually. IRAs and other tax-exempt accounts are ineligible. The offer is valid until December 31, 2011.

    E-Trade

    • E-Trade offers 60 days of commission-free trades online for new accounts funded with a minimum $2,000 deposit. IRAs and other tax-exempt accounts are ineligible. Accounts must be opened by December 31, 2011.

    TD Ameritrade

    • TD Ameritrade offers 60 days of commission-free trades (up to a maximum of 500 trades) through its Trade Architect program. To be eligible for this offer, you must open a new individual or joint account by June 30, 2011, and fund it within 30 days with a minimum of $2,000. IRAs and other tax-exempt accounts are ineligible.

    Bank of America/Merrill Lynch

    • Bank of America offers 30 commission-free online trades per month through its Merrill Edge program. To be eligible for this program, clients must maintain a minimum combined balance of $25,000 in either their Bank of America deposit accounts or their Merrill Edge self-directed account. The calculation for the minimum $25,000 cash balance is as of the prior business day.
